March to October is ideal. April-May offers pleasant weather for Tawang. September hosts the famous Ziro Music Festival. Avoid monsoon (June-August) for Tawang due to landslides. Winter (Nov-Feb) brings snow at high altitudes.
Fly to Guwahati or Tezpur. From Tezpur, drive to Tawang via Bomdila (12-14 hours, 320 km). The road crosses Sela Pass at 13,700 ft. Helicopter services available from Guwahati to Tawang (limited).
Yes, Arunachal is very safe. It has low crime rates and hospitable locals. However, travel in groups for remote areas, inform authorities of your route, and avoid restricted border areas without proper permits.
