Tour Overview
The Chandrashila-Chopta trek is a perfect short Himalayan adventure combining spirituality, stunning landscapes, and a rewarding summit. Chopta (8,790 ft / 2,680 m), often called the "Mini Switzerland of India," serves as the base for the trek to Tungnath β the highest Shiva temple in the world at 12,083 ft (3,683 m) and one of the Panch Kedars. From Tungnath, a steep 1.5 km climb leads to the Chandrashila summit (13,000 ft / 3,960 m), offering a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of peaks including Nanda Devi (7,816 m), Trishul (7,120 m), Chaukhamba (7,138 m), Bandarpoonch (6,316 m), and Kedarnath (6,940 m). The trek also includes the serene Deoriatal lake with its iconic reflection of Chaukhamba peaks.
Day-wise Itinerary
Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila Summit
Early morning trek from Chopta to Tungnath (3.5 km, 2-3 hours). The well-paved trail climbs through rhododendron forests (spectacular in spring). Visit the ancient Tungnath Temple (12,083 ft). Continue the steep 1.5 km climb to Chandrashila summit (13,000 ft, 1-1.5 hours). Enjoy the panoramic 360-degree views of Himalayan giants. Descend back to Chopta by afternoon.

Chopta to Deoriatal
Drive from Chopta to Sari village (25 km, 1 hour). Trek from Sari to Deoriatal (2.5 km, 1.5-2 hours). Deoriatal (7,841 ft / 2,390 m) is a pristine emerald lake famous for its mirror-like reflections of the Chaukhamba peaks. Spend the afternoon exploring the lake, photographing reflections, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Camp by the lake for a magical evening.

Deoriatal to Sari to Ukhimath
Morning at Deoriatal for sunrise photography β the lake turns golden as the sun hits the Chaukhamba peaks. Trek back to Sari (1.5 hours) and drive to Ukhimath. Visit the ancient Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath where the idols of Kedarnath are kept during winter. Drive to Rudraprayag/Srinagar for overnight stay.

Rudraprayag/Srinagar to Haridwar
Drive back to Haridwar (165 km, 5-6 hours) via Devprayag. Stop at Devprayag to witness the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers forming the Ganga. The tour ends upon arrival at Haridwar by afternoon.
