Yes, Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required for all Indian citizens. Apply online at mizoramonline.gov.in. Foreign nationals need Restricted Area Permit (RAP). Processing takes 1-2 days. We assist with all permit formalities.
October to March offers the best weather with clear skies. March hosts the famous Chapchar Kut festival. April-May is pleasant but warmer. Avoid monsoon (June-September) due to heavy rainfall and landslides.
Lengpui Airport (Aizawl) has flights from Kolkata and Guwahati. Silchar (Assam) is the nearest railhead. By road from Silchar to Aizawl takes about 5-6 hours through scenic mountains.
Mizoram is one of India's safest states with very low crime rates. The Mizo people are known for their hospitality. It is a dry state, so alcohol is prohibited. The society is peaceful and well-organized.
Mizo society is known for Tlawmngaihna (selfless service). They have a rich tradition of bamboo dance (Cheraw), festivals like Chapchar Kut, unique cuisine, and a Christian majority with beautiful churches dotting the landscape.
Pack light woolens for evenings, comfortable walking shoes, rain gear (during monsoon), modest clothing respecting local culture, camera, and basic medicines. Carry cash as ATMs are limited outside Aizawl.
