About Valley of Flowers Trek

The Valley of Flowers National Park bursts into colour every monsoon. Blue poppies, cobra lilies, brahmakamal, anemones and primulas paint the 87 sq km valley from late June to mid-September. The trek starts at Govindghat on the Char Dham highway and climbs 14 km to Ghangaria (3,050 m), the base camp.

From Ghangaria, the valley is a 4 km walk up a stone path. Most trekkers combine the visit with Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh pilgrimage lake at 4,329 m surrounded by seven peaks, accessible via a steep 6 km trail from Ghangaria. The valley closes in October and re-opens in June.
