Kuari Pass Trek

The Kuari Pass trek — also called the Lord Curzon Trail after the British Viceroy who walked it in 1905 — traverses a ridge in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve with an unparalleled panorama. From the pass at 3,640 m the view spans Nanda Devi (7,817 m), Dronagiri, Kamet, Neelkanth and Chaukhamba — eight peaks above 6,000 m in a single sweep.

The standard route starts at Dhak village near Joshimath and ends at Tapovan or Auli, passing through the Gorson Bugyal and Khullara meadows. The trail is well-trodden and the altitude is manageable. This is an ideal trek for those who want classic Himalayan scenery without the commitment of a 5,000 m+ objective.
