About Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Trek

Adi Kailash — also called Chhota Kailash — is a sacred peak near the Nepal border whose profile resembles Tibet's Mount Kailash. A natural Shiva linga-shaped rock sits below the mountain; the site is considered among the most powerful Shiva pilgrimage spots in Uttarakhand. Om Parvat, visible en route, displays a natural formation of snow in the shape of the om symbol on its face.

The yatra from Dharchula proceeds by road to Gunji and Napalchyu, with a day walk to the Adi Kailash darshan point at 4,600 m and a separate excursion to Nabhi Dhang for Om Parvat views. The route opened to domestic tourists in 2022 (previously permit-restricted) and searches for "Adi Kailash yatra" have surged since.

Trek highlights
