About Panchchuli Base Camp Trek
The Panchchuli massif — five summits between 6,334 m and 6,904 m — dominates the skyline above Munsiyari. The base camp trek ascends the Gori river valley through Balati and Duktu villages to an alpine meadow below the glacier. Khaliya Top (3,500 m), a popular day hike above Munsiyari, is often used as an acclimatisation stop on the first day.
The trek is in Pithoragarh district, the least trekked Himalayan district in Uttarakhand. This means the landscape is pristine and the villages are genuinely remote. A guide is essential and camping is required above Duktu.
Trek highlights
- Panchchuli peaks (I–V, up to 6,904 m)
- Khaliya Top meadow at 3,500 m
